This Week’s Topic is: 3 Books that Have Been on Your TBR List the Longest
So many books in the pile, so little time!!

- Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry – This is my all-time favorite movie and I know I’ve started McMurtry’s tome at least 2 or 3 times and I know the book will be better than the movie, so I’m not sure what is stopping me from finishing it!
- The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley – My cousin Mel has been trying to get me to read this one for awhile now since she loves it so much, but what if I hate it??
- Christy by Catherine Marshall – This one falls in the same category as Lonesome Dove. I love the TV series with Kellie Martin and Tyne Daly. So why can’t I sit down and read the book?

The Book List is just a short and fun meme hosted by Rebecca at Lost in Books that allows you to share books and make a list of books!
The way you do this meme is simple:
- There is a different topic each week, which will be posted here.
- You write a post on your own blog about the topic. The post will be a list of 3 books pertaining to the topic.
- You may include photos with your lists, especially if that helps illustrate your point.
- You link back to the week’s post here on Lost in Books in your post so if someone else wants to play, they can find their way here.
- Then you come here and leave your link in the Mr. Linky so other people can find your post and your list!
- There is no obligation to post every single week. Participate when you can!
Sound fun? Then join in!

I read Lonesome Dove a couple years ago during a road trip through South Dakota. It was the perfect time to dive in and enjoy both seeing and reading about the wild west.
Christy is another one that I have had in the back of my mind forever!
You might not LOVE The Blue Sword, but you won’t hate it. I think I can promise that with equanimity. It’s just not hate-able (because it really is well-written, and pretty innocuous). You could be ‘meh’ about it, though. I love it, but I love all McKinley. And if you don’t like this one? Don’t give up! Because she does a lot of different ‘voices.’ Her novel Sunshine is gritty, dark, adult… very different from her other fantasies.
All that to say, nice list. Courage! My post for The Book List this week is here.

Hi, Emmegail! I like the way your list kind of has a theme: books that have been hyped by their movies or by your friends.
I also have a book a friend pushed on me in my pile. She actually lent me her copy and won’t take it back, though I’ve had it for years, because she insists on me reading it!
Your blog looks great! Did you change it recently or am I completely unobservant?
My mom tried for years to get me to read Christy, but it has never appealed to me.
I might read a Lonesome Dove book for the first time this year or next as I do my tribute to my father. He loved westerns.
Thanks Rebecca! I have changed the header photo and it seems like there’s always something I want to change to make it look better.
