- Night by Eli Wiesel …along the same lines as The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, but knowing its real is just so harrowing but also knowing he SURVIVED is pretty awesome.
- Christy by Catherine Marshall …teaching in a poverty stricken backwoods Appalachian area is not easy, but the Lord puts us where he can use most. My Review.
- Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls …Oh Dan and little Ann! How you tore my heart in two!! My Review.
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon …pretty epic but whenever something happens to Jamie…I start bawlin’!!
- The Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel …Ayla sure does have it rough! Life for her is not easy, but what a journey she makes! My Review.
- Sophie and Carter by Chelsea Fine …what takes place behind closed doors is just sad! My Review.

Ahh, Where the Red Fern Grows! I haven’t read that in so many years, but it’s definitely a heartbreaker.
